MOA #146 RA #4-49

Greetings

I’m at the bar of the Dunstan House B&B in Clyde, NZ….it’s 5:10pm here, on Tuesday afternoon, so about 9:10 pm yesterday for you in Ft. Lewis and 12’10 am for the folks in Kentucky..  I’m drinking a Moa Noir, a local beer named after a large, flightless bird….which one may see if enough beers are consumed, even though the poor beast is extinct.  True to our reputation, the clear blue skies and warm temps vanished when we got on the bike, to be replaced by high winds, temps in the 50’s and hard rain.  Bill Schafer checked the weather channel here and saw that an “unexpected” cyclone had blown in, taking everyone in NZ (except us, of course,) by surprise.   We abandoned our southern route and headed north to dodge the worst of the gales down on the coast….may head back there tomorrow or the next day. For now, the bike is parked up securely in the garage here, we’re walking about the old historic mining town and will have dinner later in the old postmaster’s house restaurant down the street.  Not sure where we’ll go next.  Bike (Suzuki V-strom 650) is great so far.  No worries, mates !
